Natural Gas Hits 10-Month High, Prices To Continue Higher Toward $4 In Anticipation Of Winter Demand
- Details
A smaller-than-expected increase in inventories boosts natural gas to a 10-month high.
Natural gas prices rose to the highest level in 10 months after the Energy Information Administration reported that operators injected 72 billion cubic feet into storage last week, below the 76 to 80 bcf that most analysts were expecting.
The injection was below the year-ago and five year-average builds of 112 bcf and 85 bcf, respectively.

In turn, inventories now stand at 3725 bcf, which is 204 bcf above the year-ago level and 283 bcf above the five-year average (calculated using a slightly different methodology than the EIA).
